At approximately 01:20 BST on Sunday 29 April 2018 our service monitors detected connectivity challenges to our primary web server. Our automated fail-over processes detected the errors and powered up our secondary servers and brought them into action. Within five minutes all B2B SaaS sites were fully functional however running on our slightly less powerful secondary systems and users may have experienced a slightly degraded experience as a result.
Our engineers were alerted to the primary outage and responded. By 01:45 they had determined that the root cause was a fault within the network of our collocation facility supplier and a ticket was raised with them. Our engineers stood down with plans to check the status of our suppliers fault at 08:00.
Without any intervention by our own engineers at 07:56 our service monitors reported all systems running normally and our automated processes switched all sites back to our primary servers.
Our collocation supplier has promised a detailed analysis of the cause of this fault and we will make it available as soon as we have access to it.
Although this event was completely outside the control of B2B Internet Solutions Ltd we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.
UPDATED 2018-05-15: Our collocation supplier has provided very limited detail as to the nature of the outage. The root cause has been attributed to an "On Site Software Issue" in a networking device.
