I can't hear / see my teacher very well

If you can't hear or see your teacher very well it could be because of the following reasons:

  1. You are connected to the internet via a wireless connection
    • Sometimes your speed of connection, and hence ability to hear your teacher, can be affected by other users on the same wireless network. This could be caused by someone else:
      • Downloading or watching videos
      • Playing games
      • Having a video call / meeting on another computer
      • Your neighbours wifi and usage interfering your wifi network
        • In some cases your neighbours wifi frequency may be the same as yours, and this can cause a significant slowdown in your wireless network, particularly if their house is fairly close and they are watching videos / having video meetings or playing games
  2. Your internet provider is having issues, or your connection to your internet provider is not very fast:
    • This can be a temporary issue and can sometimes be fixed by rebooting your internet router
      • If this does not fix it you may have to ask your internet provider to check your internet connection

You can check your internet connection using online speed check tools.  It is best to do this type of test regularly as:

  • It will tell you if you are actually getting the speed that your internet provider claims they have supplied for you
  • You can tell if you are have a short term temporary issue with your internet speed

NOTES:

  • With most laptops / computers you can connect to your router via a directly connected cable rather than via a wifi connection.  Your internet speed will likely be faster and a lot more stable if directly connected via a cable rather than via a wifi connection.
  • Your teacher will always be directly connected to the internet / classroom via a cable and not wifi so any connection issues are unlikely to be at the teachers end of the classroom.
