At approximately 21:25 BST on Sunday 7 May 2017 our monitoring systems picked up potential problems connection to the B2B Webshop SaaS. The errors cleared at 21:32.
Early investigations point to a breakdown in network connectivity. No B2B controlled infrastructure shows any symptoms beyond the loss of connectivity. A ticket has been raised with our network supplier requesting they investigate. As soon as we have further information this article will be updated.
It should be noted that during the outage end-users will have received a "sites down" message.
Update 8 May 2017 14:35
Message received from network services provider:
We did see an issue last night with a router - this caused some instability for a few minutes which is the issue you noticed.
We have been working for some time on replacing our core devices of which this will be one that will see an upgrade in the near future which will increase the level of services we are able to provide to our customers.
Additional Information
After 5 minutes our automated fail over systems started to fire up but were not were ready to take over processing until just after the main servers came back on line. Most unplanned outages are due to connectivity glitches and normally last less than 5 minutes. Switching between main and failover systems can take 2 or 3 minutes which is why we do not start the process immediately sites go down.
